Hello, everyone!! I hope you're excited by the arrival of doodle season. :D

We're starting out with Fandom Transfers for the first stage of Doodle 4 Doodle: Spring Edition. At your request, we will transfer all of the nominated tags from selected fandoms. You can select up to six fandoms from last year's tagset. Most fandoms are eligible for transfer, but there are a few that are not. Please see below for a list of fandoms that can't be transfered.

Fandom transfers will be open for about 48 hours, starting at 12:01 am PDT on May 7, and continue until 11:59pm PDT May 8.

How is this different from nominations?
Nominating is slightly more involved than transferring tags! There are over 3,000 tags in last year's tagset which have already been checked and approved. Transferring correctly formatted tags from last year's tagset to this year's tagset saves everyone a bit of work, especially since returning participants may want to request similar things this round!
How do fandom transfers work?
Participants can request up to 6 fandoms from the 2025 tagset to transfer into the new one. Using the magic of spreadsheets, we will grab the tags from the 2025 tagset and batchload them into our shiny new tagset.
Are there any fandoms that can't be transferred?
To keep the tagset from wildly growing out of control, fandoms with more than 30 tags in them cannot be transferred*, and some other fandoms that are a bit more ephemeral in nature will not be eligible for transfer. Fandoms that cannot be transferred will need to be nominated on ao3 in the normal way once nominations open on May 9th.
The following fandoms cannot be transferred:
- A Song of Ice and Fire & Related Fandoms
- Ancient Greek Religion & Lore
- Animal Crossing
- Stardew Valley
- Original Work
- Crossover Fandom
- Creator's Choice of Doodles
- Recipient's OCs for Doodles

*Mod note: Pokemon - All Media Types was transferred as the mod stress-test for batchloading, so though it is one of our largest fandoms, it was transferred to the new tagset as a part of training, and it definitely stressed our test. Whoops!

What if I noticed a tag that's duplicated/misspelled?
You can comment below to tell us if there's a tag that needs some attention!
Duplicate tags are when two tags that mean the same thing appear inside of a single fandom.

For example, if you see "Group: Luke Skywalker and some porgs", and "Group: porgs and Luke Skywalker" in Star Wars - All Media Types, that is a duplicate tag! Both of these tags mean the same thing, and we'll boot one of them.
If these tags were in two different Star Wars fandoms, e.g. The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Original Trilogy, we will assume that the tag's inclusion in both fandoms was intentional and desired, and we would keep both of them.

Let us know what you spot, we'll fix whatever errors we can before nominations begin! :D
